Story to your Picture Of Dorian Gray
The Picture Of Dorian Gray Ebook Dorian Gray is really a handsome, wealthy young man living in 19th century London. While generally intelligent, he could be naive and easily manipulated. These faults result in his spiral into sin and, ultimately, misery.
While posing to get a painting by his friend Basil, Dorian meets Basil’s friend Lord Henry Wotton. Wotton is cynical and witty, and tells Dorian that this only life worth living is one dedicated entirely to delight. After Wotton convinces Dorian that youth and wonder will bring him everything he desires, Dorian openly wishes that his portrait could age as an alternative to him. He makes this statement in the presence of the certain Egyptian statue, which supposedly has the strength to grant wishes.
Dorian visits a tavern, where he falls fond of a beautiful singer named Sibyl Vane. He eventually enters a romance together with her (much for the disapproval of Sibyl’s brother), and within weeks they are engaged. Though initially overjoyed, Dorian is again persuaded by Lord Henry to pursue a far more hedonistic lifestyle. Dorian sends Sibyl a hurtful letter, breaking off their relationship, and “compensating” her which has a large sum of cash.
The next morning, Lord Henry informs Dorian that the heartbroken Sibyl Vane had killed herself the night before. Dorian are at first shocked and guilt-ridden, then again adopts Lord Henry’s indifferent manner. He surprises Basil when you go to the opera soon after hearing of Sibyl’s death. Returning that night, Dorian notices a modification of the portrait Basil had painted, which now hangs in his living room. The portrait now looks harsher, as well as a shaken Dorian has it locked away in the old school room. He becomes a lot more dedicated to living a sinful and heartless life.
Years later, Dorian is nearing his fortieth birthday, but he looks similar to he did when he was 22. The townspeople are awestruck at his unchanging appearance. Over eighteen years of pointless debauchery, the portrait remained locked away, with Dorian holding the one key. Dorian had grown a growing number of paranoid about the picture being seen by others, and would even fire the servants he thought might suspect something. Through the years, the painting in the young Dorian had warped into what hideous, demon-like creature, to mirror Dorian’s sins. Basil eventually catches a peek at the portrait and tries to talk Dorian into reforming his life. However, Dorian panics and murders uncle, leaving our bodies locked in the institution room with all the painting.
Dorian blackmails a well used friend into getting rid of Basil’s body secretly. Then enters into a romance with Basil’s niece, Gladys, who had been a young child if the portrait was painted. Though Gladys had always loved Dorian (and is also overjoyed when he proposes marriage), people who were once all-around him start to find him suspicious.
Dorian begins to realize the damage his our life is doing to himself and also to others. He’s assaulted by James Vane, Sibyl’s brother, who had sworn revenge for his sister’s death. Dorian calmly tells James that he’s too young to become the same man from eighteen years before. However, James soon learns the facts, but is shot within a hunting party at Dorian’s estate while hiding inside bushes. Dorian knows he could be guilty for one more death, and realizes that he can still spare Gladys through the misfortune although certainly cause her. After leaving her correspondence explaining himself, he returns to his old style room to take care of the painting. After stabbing his portrait inside the heart to be free of its evil spell, Dorian collapses and dies.
Dorian’s is found, yet it’s now the monstrous creature through the painting. The portrait once more depicts Dorian as a young, innocent man.
